THE WEDDING CLUB - BERTA BRIDE

VIOLA’S WORLD VISION’S BROUGHT TO LIFE

After two years devoted solely to real weddings and client work, stepping back into the world of creative editorial felt like rediscovering a part of myself I had tucked away.

Photographing with Tara Mary Alice reignited that spark, reminding me how essential it is to nurture my own artistry and create space for vision-led projects. Twelve weeks of careful planning followed — assembling a dream team, collaborating with Tara on hair concepts, curating gowns from The Wedding Club Knightsbridge, and mood-boarding every detail until the vision felt complete.

This shoot centred on Berta — a house synonymous with sensual elegance and uncompromising craftsmanship. To me, a Berta gown is not just couture, it is architecture in motion: sculpted silhouettes, delicate lacework, intricate beading, and fabrics that seem to ripple like light itself. One of the gowns we photographed was from Berta’s newest collection, and the artistry in its construction spoke volumes of the brand’s evolution — timeless yet forward-thinking, romantic yet fiercely modern.

Working in the controlled environment of a studio in Potters Bar allowed us to explore the gowns with precision. I experimented with light — natural, bounced, and sculpted — to carve texture from the fabric, to catch the shimmer of embroidery, to reveal the effortless flow of each skirt. My longtime collaborator Emma (@styledbysissy) elevated the shoot with her mastery of drapery, a craft that mirrored the couture artistry of Berta itself.

I have admired Berta for over a decade, ever since I first laid eyes on one of their designs. To see my models embodying these gowns was to watch my early inspiration come full circle. A Berta bride is instantly recognisable — she carries a presence that is magnetic, commanding yet graceful, as if the gown was made exclusively for her. That same philosophy resonates with my photography: an obsession with detail, a pursuit of timeless elegance, and the belief that true beauty is found in the unseen effort that shapes what the world ultimately experiences.
